More Classics

4. "Thursday Happy Hour (Subtract One)" We like to call this the Subtract 1 Rule, since you can easily take a Happy Hour any day of the week (although we recommend against Mondays, since technically, you're already NOT working, it's a Monday, man!). So, invoke the Happy Hour Rule any other day, take a few co-workers and BAM! You leave at 4:00. Beautiful.

TOTAL HOURS WORKED: 14.5 - 1 = 13.5 (which is roughly 2.7 hours per day in a traditional 5 day work week)

The Classics (or, Lengthy Introductory Post)

If you're one of the many office drones that feels stuck in a 9-5 (which is actually 8:30-5:00 if they make you take a 1/2 hour lunch) rut, maybe some of the following will inspire a new outlook:

Excuses for not working (The Classics):
1. "It's Monday". Everyone hates Mondays, and people consequently complain about working on Monday. Hence, you slack off on a Monday and just push pens around your desk- an excuse as lame as "it's a Monday, man" actually holds water. Try it.
2. "It's still early." You've gotta figure that from 8:30am to noon, you can still use just about any excuse that refers to either a lack of sleep, insufficient coffee intake prior to arrival, or both. Use this one daily and now you're only expected to produce actual work from 12:30-5:00, which ain't bad.
3. "It's casual Friday!" Even if your particular company does not officially endorse a Casual Friday in the traditional sense, there's still no reason you should be expected to work to your full potential. According to government labor statistics that I cannot site, Friday is the most popular day taken off by both middle and upper management. This means, the few bosses that are left around to supervise, are spread too thin. You should easily be able to disappear into a vacant conference room for a few hours of shut-eye after lunch. Play it right, and you'll only do 1 actual hour of work every Friday.

By now, you've learned how to easily cut a dreadful 40 hour work week, into easy street; here's the math:
Monday: OFF (see #1)
Tuesday: 12:30-5:00 (see #2)
Wednesday: 12:30-5:00 (see #2)
Thursday: 12:30-5:00 (see #2)
Friday: Work 1 hour, flex (see #3)
TOTAL HOURS WORKED: 14.5
